Fraudulent eBay Sellers offering "RARE" Canadian revenue stamps

Collectors of Canadian revenue stamps should investigate any seller that claims to sell "rare" stamps. Be especially wary if the seller offers many rare stamps in their listings. Some suggestions when seeing such rare items for sale are:

  1. Question the seller about their opinion of why their item is rare. Follow-up with web searches for articles , documents or other images of the rare items and follow-up with some of the other suggestions below:

  2. Educate yourself! Buy a copy of van Dam's "The Canadian Revenue Stamp Catalogue - 2022" (the most recent edition at the writing of this article).

  3. Ask another dealer! Reputable dealers should be happy to help and offer their assistance to collectors. Reputable dealers do not want to see collectors get ripped off. You may email me at: info@morelandrevenuestamps.com

  4. Join Facebook groups that are created to expose fraudulent sellers such as: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Stampfraud/ I strongly urge you to report fraudulent sellers to this group to make other collectors aware.

  5. Check to see if the seller is a member of a reputable Stamp Dealers Association.

  6. Make sure that a refund is offered if you are not satisfied.

  7. Check the sellers feedback rating and comments.

Let's keep collecting fun! Getting ripped-off leaves scars and why should a greedy person mar the enjoyment of your hobby?
